Malaria :
Malaria is spread by a mosquito. The female anopheles mosquito bites an infected person and transmits the parasite into another person. Even though malaria has been treated symptoms can persist even after one year as the parasite might be dormant in the liver and then becomes active in the blood stream. Common symptoms of malaria are high grade fever ,headache, fatigue, nausea and vomiting. Diagnosis is done by a general examination and basic blood tests. Treatment includes antimalarial drugs which include quinine. The treating doctor should be informed with regard to medications taken by the patient on a daily basis as antimalarial drug can interfere with some medications and may cause side effects. The early it is diagnosed ,the treatment would be effective. Prevention of malaria can be done by eradication of mosquitoes and usage of mosquito repellent creams.
