This procedure involves the the insertion of an endoscope - a slender, long tube, fitted with a camera directly through the mouth in order to assess various medical conditions. Besides being used as diagnostic procedure, an endoscopy can also be used to take biopsies. It can be used to investigate symptoms such as unexplained abdominal pain, acid reflux, GI bleeding, dysphagia and others.
