Gynaecologist & Obstetrician :
A gynaecologist & obstetrician is a doctor who specialises in treating female-specific problems relating to the reproductive system. The title of gynaecologist & obstetrician is often shortened to OB/GYN. They are simply called gynaecologists in common language.
Gynaecologists are responsible for diagnosing and treating problems such as infections and growths in the female reproductive system. These specialists are best known for treating menstrual problems and helping pregnant women maintain their health throughout the pregnancy. Gynaecologists are also the specialists who assist females in giving birth during labour. These doctors are also capable of performing a C-section procedure to facilitate childbirth. To become a gynaecologist, an MBBS doctor must earn a Master's of Surgery in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or an equivalent qualification. If a female notices unusual discharge or lumps in the breasts or vagina, it is important to consult a gynaecologist.
