Ectopic Pregnancy :
Ectopic pregnancy can be described as a condition in which there is implantation of a fetus outside of the uterus, commonly occurring in the fallopian tubes. In an ectopic pregnancy, the pregnancy cannot be continued further, and it should be terminated. The symptoms that can be seen when there is an ectopic pregnancy include vaginal bleeding, severe pain in the lower abdomen and lower back region, and weakness. There is a chance of rupture of the fallopian tube, leading to low blood pressure, rectal pressure, fainting, severe and sharp abdominal pain, shoulder pain. The causes of ectopic pregnancy can be due to sexually transmitted infections (STI), extra growth that blocks the fallopian tube from allowing the embryo to travel to the uterus to implant, scar tissue due to past pelvic surgery. Ectopic pregnancy can be diagnosed through urine tests, ultrasound examination, blood tests. Management of ectopic pregnancy can be done by removing the pregnancy through medications or with surgery.
