Ectopic pregnancy is a condition in which the fertilized ovum develops at a site outside the uterine cavity, 95% of them occur in the fallopian tube. Fallopian tube is a narrow passage canal in which the egg passes from the ovary to the uterine cavity . There are a number of factors that lead to tubal damage and dysfunction resulting in tubal pregnancy like congenital anomalies of the tube (birth defect), prior tubal surgery, prior pelvic inflammatory disease(PID), IUCD ( intrauterine contraceptive devices), progestogen contraceptives, assisted reproduction, previous tubal pregnancy etc. Signs and symptoms include severe abdominal pain/ pelvic pain or cramping, vaginal bleeding or spotting , shoulder pain (due to bleeding into the abdominal cavity), weakness, dizziness or fainting.
