Encephalitis :
Symptoms may appear suddenly and they can be as inapparent as others are severe. Some symptoms include fever, headache, confusion, seizures, sensitivity to light, and alteration of behavior or consciousness. Either muscle weakness or problem in coordination may be experienced by some patients. Diagnosis of the disease includes history taking from the patient and also neurological assessment along with other investigations for example MRI or lumbar puncture where CSF may be investigated.
Treatment of the disease depends upon the underlying cause. It may include antiviral medications in some types of viral infection, corticosteroids to diminish inflammation, and symptomatic treatment. Early diagnosis calls for an immediate initiation of a treatment plan to prevent the complications and soften the impact of encephalitis, such as permanent disability of the brain or even death.
