Ear Pain :

Otalgia commonly known as earache or ear pain. Its divided into two etiologies based on its origin primary where the pain originates from the ear and secondary or referred Otalgia where the cause of pain is from outside the ear. Barotrauma, tumour, dysfunctional Eustachian tube, ruptured tympanic membrane usually are the causes of primary Otalgia. In secondary Otalgia conditions as GERD, temporomandibular joint syndrome[TMJ], tonsillitis are the causes.

Diagnostic tools as CT, MRI, PET scanning are used to help in further diagnosis.blood tests and nasal endoscopy might also be required. Procedures as autoinsufflation, diagnostic myringotomy may be used by your ENT specialist to alleviate the pain.
