Colonoscopy :
Colonoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to visualize inside the large intestine, including the colon, rectum, and anus. Colonoscopy is a type of endoscopic procedure which involves of insertion of an endoscope through the anus and enters into the rectum and the colon. Colonoscopy is advised in screening for cancer in the large intestine and is done in cases of digestive tract diseases such as inflammatory disease and also to diagnose severe abdominal pain. The symptoms that need a colonoscopy are severe diarrhoea, rectal bleeding, persistent stomach pain, constipation, unexplained weight loss, etc. Colonoscopy can diagnose diseases such as ischemic colitis, ulcerative colitis, large bowel obstructions, ulcers, diverticulosis, colorectal polyps, and colorectal cancer. During the colonoscopy, the doctor can identify the issues, and sometimes they can treat them, itself such as removal of polyps, removal of any blockages, sealing the wounds, placement of stents, injection of medicines, and can also treatment with laser.
