Preceeding kidney failure, a person first suffers from chronic kidney disease. In kidney failure, a person's kidneys fail to function as well as they should, meaning the process of filteration of wastes is impaired. In such cases, kidney replacement is necessary either through different kinds of dialysis or via a kidney transplantation. Kidney failure may be acute (develops suddenly) or chronic (develops gradually over time) in nature.
