Hemophilia is a rare inherited bleeding type of blood disorder caused due to lack of clotting factors. Hemophilia is of three types based on the absence of clotting factor. Hemophilia A, which is the common type is due to a lack of clotting factor VIII, Hemophilia B patients have not enough amount of clotting factor IX and Hemophilia C is a rare manifestation with lack of clotting factor XI. The amount of bleeding depends on the severity of the bleeding disorder. Patients with mild hemophilia may have abnormal bleeding only after surgical procedure or injury, while moderate hemophilia patients may bleed abnormally for longer intervals after surgical procedure or injury. Patients with severe hemophilia have profuse and long-lasting bleeding after such procedures or no likely cause. They may present with easy nosebleeds, prolonged bruises under the skin after injury, some may have joint pains or brain hemorrhage.
