Contact lenses are polymer based flexible materials that can be placed on the surface of the eye to help you see better. Contact lenses are used instead of glasses and can help with near and farsightedness as well as presbyopia and astigmatism. They are used instead of refractive surgery like LASIK to see clearly. Contact lenses work similarly to how glasses work. The way a glass works is that it bends the light from the surroundings a certain way so that the focal point falls on the retina. The retina collects information and passes it on the brain where the signals are interpreted. Contact lenses are exactly the same which are just extremely thin that essentially stick to the eye surface. Before putting the lenses in, it is essential to wash your hands thoroughly to avoid any contamination. Then with one hand the upper and lower eyelids are pulled to make space. The lenses are brought closer with the opposite hand and is placed on the eye surface. Blinking once secures the lens in place.
