VSD Surgery :
Ventricular septal defect is a congenital heart disorder resulting from the incomplete closure (forming a hole) of the ventricular septum leading to abnormal flow of blood between the two ventricles(lower two chambers of the heart). VSD surgery (ventricular septal defect) is done to repair or fix the hole in the ventricular septum(the wall between the two ventricles). VSD surgery can be done through two different techniques namely the traditional open heart surgery and catheter based treatment. The type of procedure employed is based on various factors such as the size of the hole, overall health condition of the patient, etc. Inlet ventricular septal defect, muscular ventricular septal defect, conoventricular septal defect, permembranous ventricular septal defect, and conoventricular ventricular septal defect are the different types of ventricular septal defects.
