Malaria :
Malaria is a parasitic disease that spreads when a Plasmodium-infected mosquito bites a person. The warning signs of malaria are fever with sweating, chills, headache, fatigue, chest pain, difficulty in breathing, cough, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and seizures. Severe stages present with anemia and jaundice, too. These symptoms usually appear between seven days to one month after getting infected with the parasite. The potential complications of malaria are coma (brain damage), organ failure, and death. Malaria is treated by prescribing antimalarial drugs like artemisinin, atovaquone, chloroquine, mefloquine, doxycycline, quinine, and primaquine. Recurrence of the infection also occurs years later after the recovery. Preventive measures are to be taken which include applying mosquito repellents to exposed skin, draping mosquito netting over the beds, putting screens on windows and doors and wearing long pants and long sleeves to cover the skin.
