Lipoma :
A lipoma can be described as an abnormal growth of fatty tissue that develops under the skin. A lipoma can be a non cancerous growth, and it can also be a soft tissue tumor. The lipoma can be seen as a painless growth, round shaped, movable, encapsulated, and it does not spread to other tissues, and its size is below 2 inches. Lipomas generally appear anywhere in the body and are most commonly observed on the arms, trunk, back, shoulders, forehead, and neck. There are several types of lipomas, such as conventional, fibrolipoma, angiolipoma, hibernoma, spindle cell lipoma, myelolipoma, and pleomorphic lipoma. The lipomas can be diagnosed based on performing a biopsy to identify if it is non cancerous. Diagnostic tests such as ultrasound examination, CT scan, and MRI scan are also done to diagnose the lipoma. There is no treatment for lipomas when they are not cancerous or dangerous. Surgical treatment of lipoma will be advised when it is causing trouble and surgery is called liposuction.
