Pneumonia :
Pneumonia is a condition where lung tissues swell and leads to inflammation. Types include community acquired pneumonia caused due to bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, Hospital acquired pneumonia, ventilator associated pneumonia, and aspiration pneumonia. Signs of pneumonia are congestion, chest pain, breathing difficulties, and cough with bloody mucous. Symptoms include high fever, fatigue, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, chills, chest pain, loss of appetite, cyanosis, confusion, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, and restlessness. Diagnosis can be made by Imaging, blood tests, sputum tests, pulse oximetry, pleural fluid culture, arterial blood gas test, and bronchoscopy. Treatments include antibiotics, antifungal and antiviral medications, oxygen therapy, and IV fluids.
