Endocrinologist :
An endocrinologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the study of hormones and identifies and treats hormonal imbalances. To become an endocrinologist, one must attain an MBBS degree and then pursue post graduation in general medicine followed by a super specialization in endocrinology. The common set of diseases diagnosed by an endocrinologist is hypercalcemia, osteoporosis, diabetes, endocrine cancers and tumors like thyroid cancer and neuroendocrine tumor, obesity, metabolic syndrome, pituitary gland conditions like hypopituitarism, adrenal gland conditions like Cushing syndrome, thyroid diseases like hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism and sexual development and reproduction conditions like hypogonadism and PCOS. The common symptoms that an endocrinologist looks for are fatigue, weakness, weight loss or weight gain, menstrual irregularities, mood swings and anxiety, skin changes such as dry skin, acne, changes in hair growth, changes in heart rate, blurred vision, excessive thirst, bone and joint pain.
