Pulmonologist :
A pulmonologist or lung specialist will be a specialised doctor who will provide diagnosis and treatment for the respiratory diseases that are affecting the respiratory system. A pulmonologist will be qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by a master's, MD in pulmonary medicine or respiratory medicine. Also, they will pursue further specialisation, DM in critical care medicine and pulmonary medicine. The common conditions which are treated by a pulmonologist will be chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, lung cancer, pulmonary vascular disease, sarcoidosis, cystic fibrosis, obstructive sleep apnea, pneumonia, broncheictasis, tuberculosis, and coughs. When there are symptoms like shortness of breath, chest tightness, a long-time cough which is very severe, frequent bronchitis, wheezing, chest discomfort, abnormal breathing issues, family history of asthma, weakness, sleep apnea, loud snoring during sleep, one should check with a pulmonologist for treatment.
