Eye Specialist :
An eye specialist is an MBBS doctor who has earned additional qualifications and training to treat eye problems. Eye specialists are formally called ophthalmologists. These doctors must complete an MS in Ophthalmology or an equivalent qualification to become ophthalmologists. An eye specialist may pursue further qualifications or do a fellowship to become an expert in treating specific eye problems.
Eye specialists usually work at specialty hospitals called eye hospitals. They perform comprehensive eye check-ups and prescribe medications accordingly. In some cases, these specialists may perform surgery to treat eye diseases. To check a patient's eyes, they first put numbing drops into the eyes that relax the pupils. After a few minutes pass, an eye specialist uses a slit lamp and various other equipment to examine the eyes closely. It is crucial to consult an eye specialist if one is experiencing blurry vision, discharge from the eyes, irritation in the eyes and eye pain. Leaving these symptoms untreated can permanently alter the vision.
