Ear Wax :
Ear wax is simply the natural productive output produced by glands in the ear for ear protection and ear lubrication. Ear wax captures dust, dirt, and other dirt from entering the eardrum. The usual movement of ear wax out of the ear canal is through jaw activities, such as chewing and talking. Overaccumulation of ear wax may lead to blocking, discomfort, reduced hearing or obscured hearing, itching, or diseases like tinnitus. Ear drops can be taken over the counter to help soften the buildup before it dries and falls out easily. Treatment also differs with patients as a ENT specialist may have to manually remove the wax through irrigation, suction, or by special instruments. Patients are also counseled against trying to insert cotton buds or other objects into their ears because it could force the wax deeper into the ear canal and inflict damage or infection.
