Chemotherapy :
Chemotherapy is a common cancer treatment that destroys cancer cells and stops their multiplication. It involves the use of certain drugs that are effective against certain types of cancer. Chemotherapy can be used in multiple ways. It may be used after removing a tumour to destroy cancer cells. It can also be used before a surgery to shrink a tumour. In some cases, chemotherapy before surgery can completely destroy the tumour, removing the need for the surgery.
Medical oncologists are the specialists who have the skills to provide chemotherapy. These specialists may provide the chemotherapy drugs via injections, an IV line, as oral medications or as a cream to rub on the skin. A chemotherapy session can last anywhere between a few minutes and a few hours. In most cases, multiple sessions are performed over a span of a few days or weeks.
