Amblyopia :
Amblyopia, or "lazy eye" is a condition in which the vision through one eye fails to be as sharp as compared to the other eye. It is mostly caused in the children. Typically, the symptoms of this condition are highly undetectable unless a person undertakes a vision test or if the patient is complaining of blurring of vision in one eye. However, one could suffer from squinting, or tilting toward favoring one eye over the other. Treatment would generally strengthen the weaker eye. It could be an eye patch worn over the stronger eye as a teaching method of how to use the weakened eye, special glasses or even eye drops that would blur the stronger eye for forcing to use the weaker one to focus more.Even in some cases surgery would also be suggested. If one starts the treatment when still in childhood stages, it quite effectively saves the vision significantly. A regular check up and follow up visits with the ophthalmologist is needed to recognize the problem and to start the treatment at the earliest. It is more common among children.
