Interventional Cardiologist :
An interventional cardiologist is a heart specialist who is focused on diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart with the help of minimally invasive interventional techniques, especially for conditions such as blocked arteries, coronary artery disease, heart valve problems, or certain types of congenital heart defects.
An interventional cardiologist uses catheter-based techniques primarily for angioplasty, stent placement, to open blocked arteries to improve blood flow and prevent heart attacks .An interventional cardiologist completes their MBBS degree followed by a MD degree in Medicine and then a DM degree in Cardiology with additional training in interventional procedures. They conduct tests such as an angiogram to check if there are blockages in the heart, and then later might suggest angioplasty if needed. Most of the procedures an interventional cardiologist perform would be minimally invasive and can be done as a day care procedure.
