PCOD :
Polycystic ovarian disease can be called PCOD. PCOD can be described as a hormonal disease that affects the reproductive hormones that are present in females. PCOD is also known as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). PCOD can cause several cysts in the ovaries, which will lead to imbalances in hormone levels, irregular menstrual cycles. The symptoms that can be seen when there is PCOD include irregularity of periods, high levels of androgen, multiple cysts in the ovaries, acne on the skin, leading to facial hair and body hair, and hair loss leading to baldness. The complications that can be observed in the case of PCOD can be fertility issues, abortions, premature deliveries, gestational diabetes, depression, sleep apnea, anxiety, endometrial cancer, and eating disorders. One of the most common complications in PCOD is obesity. The PCOD can be diagnosed through blood tests, an ultrasound scan of the uterus, and examination of the pelvis. The treatment of PCOD can be done by treating with medications, symptomatic relief treatments, and progestin therapy. There are some lifestyle modifications that should be done in case of PCOD such as having a normal weight, consuming less carbohydrates in food, and regular physical exercise.
