Twin Pregnancy :
When a female becomes pregnant with two fetuses in the womb rather than just one, it is said that the individual has a twin pregnancy. A twin pregnancy causes distinct signs early on in the pregnancy. The female may gain weight faster than expected. Moreover, the fetal movement may begin earlier and the baby bump may be larger than expected.
A gynaecologist may suspect a twin pregnancy if there is fetal movement in more than one area. The doctor may also suspect a twin pregnancy when the HCG levels in the blood are higher than expected. A twin pregnancy is confirmed with an ultrasound scan since it shows the number of fetuses in the womb. A female may have higher odds of a twin pregnancy if they are older than 35, has received a fertility treatment or has a family history of twin pregnancies. Females who are carrying twins need additional care and support compared to regular pregnancies.
