Tuberculosis :
Tuberculosis or TB is a chronic bacterial infection causes by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that mainly affects the lungs known as pulmonary tuberculosis but it can also affect other organs (extra pulmonary tuberculosis) like brain, spine, liver etc. It is important to note that all the persons infected with the bacteria doesn't develop symptoms but has them in dormant stages in the body. The signs and symptoms of TB include persistent cough, fever (usually during evening and nights), night sweats, unexplained loss of appetite that causes weight loss, chest pain, Pott's spine(in spinal TB), meningitis , infertility (PID due tuberculosis) etc. Early diagnosis is necessary to prevent further complications and management includes antibiotics that have to be used for long duration, usually 6-9 months depending on the organ effected and other conditions.
