Pulmonologist :
A pulmonologist is a specialized medical doctor who evaluates the conditions affecting the respiratory system, encompassing the lungs and airways. To pursue a career as a pulmonologist, one has to finish their five and half years of graduation from a medical college and obtain their MBBS degree and then pursue post graduation like DM in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine or MD in Pulmonary Medicine or DNB in Respiratory Medicine. A pulmonologist treats a wide range of conditions such as asbestosis, asthma, bronchiectasis, aspergillosis, bronchitis, chronic beryllium disease, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, interstitial lung disease, COVID, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), silicosis, sleep apnea, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, pulmonary hypertension and lung cancer. The major symptoms addressed by a pulmonologist are cough that doesn't improve over time, asthma attacks, chest pain and chest tightness, shortness of breath or dyspnea, wheezing sensation and sleep apnea symptoms like daytime tiredness or snoring.
