Kidney Failure :
Kidney failure is a condition in which one or both of the kidneys stop functioning as well as they should. The condition can be temporary or develop over time, causing the kidneys to slowly lose their function. As the kidneys fail, the body loses its ability to filter out toxins from the blood and produce urine.
Individuals may not experience any symptoms in the early stages of kidney failure. However, as the condition progresses, an individual may experience symptoms like tiredness, nausea, swelling, confusion and poor appetite. Additionally, the individual may experience changes in the frequency of urination. The diagnosis of kidney failure involves tests such as urine tests, blood tests and kidney function tests. Imaging tests such as CT urogram and ultrasound may also be performed. The treatment of this condition involves medications and dialysis. In severe cases, a kidney transplant may be required.
