Haemorrhoidectomy :

Hemorrhoidectomy is a procedure which the hemorrhoids are surgically removed . Hemorrhoids are the swollen veins that can be either internal hemorrhoids (that causes fresh blood around the stool, usually painless) or external hemorrhoids (causes severe pain,irritation and or itching) and the risk factors include chronic constipation, low fibre diet, pregnancy , obesity, ascites, receiving end of anal sex, straining during bowel movements etc. Hemorrhoidectomy is a done by a proctologist or general surgeon under anesthesia and , can be an excisional hemorrhoidectomy, stapled hemorrhoidectomy/hemorrhoidopexy with laser (useful in grade II or III hemorrhoids) and other supportive care like pain management, stool softners, sitz bath and high fibre diet.
