Conjunctivitis is also called pink eye. It will be described as the inflammation of the conjunctiva, which is present in the eye. This will be a common condition that will affect the eyes. The conjunctivitis will be caused due to many reasons, such as infectious causes like viral conjunctivitis and bacterial conjunctivitis. And non-infectious causes will be irritants, allergens, injuries to the eyes, and immune disorders. The symptoms that will be seen in the case of conjunctivitis will be redness of the white part of the eye, called the sclera, sensation of a foreign object in the eye, discharge from the eye, itching of the eyes, dry eyes, blurred vision, swollen eyelids, sensitivity to light, eye pain, and burning of the eyes. Conjunctivitis is a contagious disease. The diagnosis of conjunctivitis will be made based on a regular eye check-up by an ophthalmologist. The treatment advised for conjunctivitis will be done by using medications, eye drops, cold or warm compresses. There will be some risk factors that can increase the risk of conjunctivitis in children under the age of 4 years, including poor hand hygiene, the summer season, medical history with eczema, and sharing things with infected people.
