Bone Marrow transplant (BMT) :
Bone Marrow transplant (BMT) is also called as the stem cell transplant. BMT is indicated in case of any need for replacement of the bone marrow that has been damaged or diseased. Bone marrow transplant will be advised in patients who have blood cancers and autoimmune diseases. There will be some types in case of bone marrow transplants, like autologous bone marrow transplant and allogenic stem cell transplant. During the procedure of an autologous bone marrow transplant, stem cells, which are extracted from one's own bone marrow, will replace the damaged cells. In an allogenic bone marrow transplant, stem cells will be extracted from donors and then will replace the diseased and damaged cells. There will be risks that are observed with the bone marrow transplant, including infections, graft-versus-host disease, and bleeding. The success of bone marrow transplants depends on the type of disease, stage of the disease, age of the individual, and the body's healing.
