Stomach Pain :
Stomach pain is described as discomfort or pain that is dull or sharp experienced in the belly region of the body. Stomach pain can be generalized or localized, mild or severe, crampy or colicky, constant or intermittent burning or achy. The causative factors of stomach pain include traumatic injuries, abdominal muscle strain, abdominal bloating, visceral hypersensitivity, shingles and stress (psychosomatic pain). Indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, gas and gastric pain, food poisoning and food allergies and intolerances can also cause stomach pain after eating. The other factors responsible for causing stomach pain include peptic ulcer disease, chronic acid reflux (GERD), viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu) and urinary tract infection (UTI). Women experience stomach pain due to ovulation pain and menstrual cramps. If stomach pain is accompanied with other symptoms like persistent fever, blood in stools, nausea or vomiting, jaundice, urine or vomit, pain in any other part of the body and shortness of breath, it is important to visit a doctor.
