Breast Lump :
A breast lump is described as a growth that forms in the breast region, mostly in women. A breast lump can be bumpy, smooth, or spongy, movable, hard or firm, round or irregularly shaped, and squishy or soft. These breast lumps, sometimes, are also seen along with other signs such as bloody discharge from the nipple and nipple changes. The factors responsible for the formation of these breast lumps include breast cysts, fibrocytic changes, fibroadenomas, breast calcifications, breast infection, breast cancer, and phyllodes tumors. To evaluate breast lumps and diagnose them, it is necessary to examine the breast, take the medical history, and, based on the requirement, perform imaging tests like ultrasound, mammogram, and breast MRI. The management of breast lumps involves various methods such as prescribing antibiotics, fluid drainage from a breast cyst, cancer treatment if the lump is a breast cancer, and biopsy to further analyze the mass.
