Breast Abscess :
Breast Abscess is a painful condition that can be described as a pus filled cavity in the breast tissue. This can be a common condition in women especially during the period of breast feeding. This is not a serious condition, however is difficult to deal with due to immense pain of the involved breast. The skin becomes red and swollen and the area is tender to touch and feels warm.
There is generalized fever as Breast abscess is a bacterial infection. Breast Abscess can be diagnosed with clinical examination by a Gynecologist who may refer for an ultrasound imaging. If the breast abscess is smaller in size oral antibiotics can be given to reduce infection. However, a procedure called as the incision and drainage provides immediate relief as a small puncture is place on the abscess under local anesthesia to drain the built up pressure and pus that is formed.
