Varicose Veins

Varicose Veins
Q.

Hi Doctor, this is Shivani. Is it safe to undergo varicose vein treatment if I am pregnant or planning to become pregnant?

A.

Hi Shivani, varicose veins treatment can be safely taken if you are planning pregnancy and are symptomatic. However, during pregnancy, I would say avoid the surgical or endovascular treatment until a few months after the pregnancy, as symptoms may improve themselves after delivery if they have developed during pregnancy. Use stockings regularly and walk with stockings during pregnancy if you have varicose veins. Thank you
