Vascular Surgeon :
A vascular surgeon is a specialised surgeon who deals with the diagnosis and management of many conditions that affect the blood vessels, such as veins, arteries, and the lymphatic system, which includes the blood vessels of the heart and brain. The vascular surgeon will be qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by a post-graduation in MS in general surgery. Further, they will be trained with DNB in vascular surgery and fellowship courses in vascular surgery. The conditions that are treated by a vascular surgeon will be peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms, deep vein thrombosis, and varicose veins. The surgical procedures that are done by a vascular surgeon will be lower limb revascularisation, carotid endarterectomy, varicose vein treatment, and endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms. When there are symptoms like non-healing foot ulcers, and on legs, cramping in legs, leg pain which worsens with exercise, pain in legs, swelling of legs and feet, numbness, redness on legs, severe abdominal pain, tingling sensation, severe headache, one should check with a vascular surgeon for the management.
