PCOD :
This is a hormonal disorder which is common in most women of childbearing age, polycystic ovary disease, or sometimes known as polycystic ovary syndrome. Three main features are associated with it are irregular menstrual cycles, excess androgen levels with symptoms that include acne, excessive hair growth, and weight gain, and polycystic ovaries where multiple small cysts form on the ovaries. Though the exact cause of PCOD is not known some of these symptoms have been thought to be due to either insulin resistance and genetic predisposition. They vary for each woman but can affect the general as well as reproductive health of a female. Early diagnosis and treatment of PCOS can also prevent further development of the more serious long-term health threats, namely diabetes and heart disease.
