Leprosy :
Leprosy refers to an infectious condition affecting the nerves, eyes, skin, muscles and respiratory tract, and is also known as Hansen's disease. The common symptoms of this disease are patches of skin, often with raised edges, different from the surrounding skin and appear pale, red, stiff, thick, discolored and swollen or numb, purple or red nodules or lumps, painless ulcers or sores on the bottom of the feet, enlarged nerves, paralysis or weakness, loss of eyelashes or eyebrows and vision loss other eye issues. The bacterium Mycobacterium leprae causes leprosy. This chronic bacterial infection is diagnosed by conducting tests, such as skin biopsy, blood tests and nerve conduction tests. The treatment approach for leprosy involves prescribing antibiotics like dapsone, rifampin and clofazimine. Leprosy is categorized into 3 types such as tuberculoid (paucibacillary) leprosy, lepromatous (multibacillary) leprosy and borderline (dimorphous) leprosy.
