Fever :

A raise in the body temperature is called as fever.Fever can be caused by a virus / bacteria.High grade fever persisting for more than 3 days with associated symptoms like throat pain , burning sensation while passing urine, severe head ache, chills and rigors should not be neglected and to be shown to a general physician.Some of the common infections due to which a patient might experience a fever are : viral / bacterial gastroenteritis , respiratory tract infection, tuberculosis, malaria, typhoid , cellulitis. Some of the tests which a general physician might advise are Complete blood picture, viral markers, blood for culture and sensitivity, complete urine examination, ultrasound abdomen etc. Treatment depends on the underlying factor . Usually treatment of fever includes a complete course of antibiotics, antifungals, i.v fluids and small dose of steroids if required
