Eczema :
Eczema or atopic dermatitis is an atopic dermatitis of the chronic kind in which some manifestations of itchy skin, dryness, and inflammation appear. It can begin in infancy and early childhood though also may happen to anybody at any age. Until now, the reason why the disease occurs is not known. It is beleived that it could be related to some genetic, environmental, and autoimmune factors. Cases happen more often with persons who have relatives allergic or victims of asthma. Symptoms involve inflamed red patches of skin, intense itch sensation, dry scaly sections that ooze or crust over during flare ups. Some potential causes include allergens, irritants, stress, temperature changes, as well as a few other sources. The treatment in this case is designed to control symptoms so that flare ups cannot be performed by the patient. Other treatments include emollients to moisturize the skin, topical corticosteroids for preventing inflammation, and antihistamines may be given to lessen the itch. Also, avoidance of the cause and good skincare are key in the treatment of a person's eczema skin to have the best possible control.
