Eczema :
Eczema is a skin problem and a type of dermatitis, in which skin becomes bumpy, dry and itchy. Eczema is categorized into several types such as atopic dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, contact dermatitis, nummular eczema, seborrheic dermatitis and neurodermatitis. The risk factors associated with eczema are dermatitis, similar family history, hay fever, asthma and allergies. The symptoms of eczema include dry skin, itchy skin, skin rash, bumps on the skin, thick, leathery patches of skin, flaky, scaly or crusty skin and swelling. Eczema is mainly observed on face, especially cheeks, hands, neck, elbows, feet, ankles, knees, in and around the lips and ears. The factors responsible for causing eczema include genetic factors, harsh soaps, immune system irritants, fabrics like wool and some skin care products, emotional triggers, exposure to smoke and air pollutants. The treatment methods to manage eczema include using moisturizer regularly, taking medications to suppress the symptoms, participating in light therapy and avoiding triggers.
