Child Psychiatrist :
A child psychiatrist is a medical expert who diagnoses and cures mental health disorders among children and adolescents, preventing them as well. Child psychiatry particularly addresses emotive, behavioral problems, and developmental issues that make a low quality of life and hinder the function ability in the child. Some of the most common problems that the psychiatrist evaluates are anxiety disorders, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders, mood disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. To become a child psychiatrist, the doctor needs to earn first a medical degree and then go on to do residency in psychiatry after which he or she will undergo fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry which will give the doctor advanced education in the special features of psychiatric care of the younger population. They can also be equipped with the tools that are going to aid in identifying any mental illness or concerns through interviews, standardized testing, and even behavioral observation. Approaches can vary from psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy to manage and administer medication to the child, family therapy and all aspects of behavioral interventions. They would most often collaborate with parents and other practitioners as well as with schools in developing an overall treatment plan specific to the child to support them in their emotional, social, and academic development.
