Renal Diet is mandatory for chronic kidney disease or impaired functioning of the kidney. The main aim of this diet is to decrease the burden and workload on the kidneys. Since the main function of the kidney is to eliminate waste, renal diet ensures that clean and healthy eating facilitates production of less waste.
This usually involves reducing consumption of sodium, phosphorus and potassium. Foods like bananas, nuts and diary can be avoided as they have high mineral content. Intake of protein is also not advised and should be consumed in moderate quantities.
