Gastrectomy :
Gastrectomy is a surgical procedure for resection of the stomach, in cases like carcinomas, severe ulcers and morbidity, obese patients are some risk factors. The types of gastrectomies include partial gastrectomy, total gastrectomy and sleeve gastrectomy. Which are commonly performed in obesity patients for weight management, indigestion occurs with vitamin deficiency and acid reflex. The patient will normally require a change in diet to frequent, small meals and dietary supplements with a few vitamins to prevent malnutrition. Symptoms of nausea, diarrhea or weak feelings are common but usually will resolve over a short period. The postoperative management (after surgery) includes avoiding food high in sugar, eating high-protein meals, and consuming adequate fluids. A gastrectomy is able to save the life of a drastic illness patient with better health but requires lifelong diet modification. Regular follow-ups with the doctors shall make the recovery smooth, avoiding complications.
