Endometriosis :
Endometriosis is a medical condition where the tissue similar to the uterine lining, also known as the endometrium, starts developing outside the uterus on organs in the pelvic region such as the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, or even on the lining of the pelvic cavity. The tissue behaves the same way as the uterine lining as it thickens and sheds every month with each menstrual cycle but has no way out of the body causing irritation, inflammation, and pain. The first symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain, though this is usually connected with menstrual periods, sometimes it consists of severe cramping, painful intercourse, and often painful bowel movements or urination. Other symptoms can include irregular periods, fatigue, and even infertility. The cause of endometriosis is unknown to this day though some factors that might trigger the disease are retrograde menstruation, where menstrual blood flows into the pelvic cavity, genetic predisposition and disorders of the immune system. Treatment includes pain control by medications in the form of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, hormone therapy for the induction of amenorrhea, and surgical removal of endometrial tissue for severe cases. Others require a lifestyle and physical therapy readjustment, as well as treatments to be fertile.
