goniotomy treatment :

Goniotomy is an intricate procedure performed to lower the eye pressure by treating the drainage system (trabecular meshwork) of the eye. Goniotomy is a leading surgical option for glaucoma in both children and adults. It treats conditions such as open angle glaucoma, congenital glaucoma, aniridia, Uveitic glaucoma, and juvenile open angle glaucoma. Although this surgery can be performed as a stand alone surgery, it is also performed in conjunction with cataract surgery.

The procedure involves creating an opening in the trabecular meshwork - a group of small canals that enable the fluid to exit the eyes. These surgical openings then allow the fluid to flow naturally, treating glaucoma and reducing the pressure .
