Cataract :

A cataract is called the clouding of the lens in the eyes. Lenses that are present in the eyes are made up of proteins. These lenses can break down due to older age and thus lead to the formation of cloudy areas and affect the vision. There are various types of cataracts, such as traumatic cataracts, secondary cataracts, and pediatric cataracts. There will be age-related cataracts like nuclear sclerotic cataract, cortical cataract, and posterior subcapsular cataract. Cataracts will start at around the age of 40 years. The symptoms that will be experienced when there is a cataract will be vision changes, such as foggy, blurry, cloudy, sensitivity to sunlight, difficulty seeing at night, difficulty seeing headlights, double vision, colors appearing faded, and nearsightedness worsening, requiring a bright light for reading. Cataracts will be mainly detected through eye examination, and tests will include a visual acuity test and a slit lamp exam. Cataract surgery is the only treatment option for removing the cloudy lens, and thus it will be replaced with an intraocular lens.
