Paediatric Ophthalmologist :
A paediatric ophthalmologist is a specialist doctor who will provide diagnosis and treatment of eye problems in children and adolescents. A paediatric ophthalmologist is qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by post-graduation in MS or DNB in ophthalmology. Further, they are specialised with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology. The common conditions which will be treated by a paediatric ophthalmologist include amblyopia, refractive errors like farsightedness, nearsightedness, cataracts, eye infections, strabismus, congenital eye abnormalities, ptosis, chalazia, styes, and visual impairment. When the child is having any of the symptoms of eye problems such as difficulty in focusing, crossed eyes, poor hand-eye coordination, excessive squinting, difficulties in reading, red eyes, frequent headaches, unusual eye movements, sensitivity to light, holding books too close to eyes, complaining of blurred vision, tears in eyes, family history of vision problems, they should consult a paediatric ophthalmologist for the diagnosis of the condition and for treatment.
