Asthma :
Asthma is a long-term respiratory disease affecting the lungs. It is also called bronchial asthma. Asthma causes inflammation of airways and narrows them, leading to excess mucus formation in the lungs. The symptoms of asthma are chest tightness, shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, etc. In some individuals, asthma is triggered when they exercise or due to any allergy, or it can be occupational asthma which can be due to gases, dust, and chemical fumes. The diagnostic tests to diagnose asthma are physical examination, spirometry, and peak flow. There are also other tests such as X-rays, allergy testing, and nitric oxide tests. The treatment methods to treat asthma are medications, which include oral pills, inhaler pills, oral corticosteroids and intravenous corticosteroids, etc. The main goal of asthma treatment is to control the symptoms. Asthma can be prevented by monitoring the triggers causing the asthma and have to control them.
