Phimosis :
Phimosis is a term used to describe the condition affecting the uncircumcised penis in children and also in adults. With the phimosis, the foreskin on the penis cannot be retracted. There are two types of phimosis such as pathologic phimosis and physiologic phimosis. The symptoms of phimosis can be swelling, pain during urination, discoloration, pain, blood in the urine, pain during erection, weak stream of urine passage, etc. The major causes of phimosis can be sexually transmitted diseases, penile adhesions, skin conditions such as eczema, lichen planus, psoriasis, and any injuries. Phimosis can be diagnosed by doing tests such as urinalysis and urine culture. Treatment options for phimosis include medications, corticosteroid creams to apply over the penis, and surgical treatment if circumcision is indicated in the case of adults. The complications with phimosis are urinary tract infections, inflammation of the foreskin, foreskin tears, poor hygiene, and paraphimosis (foreskin getting stuck behind the glans penis).
