Malaria :
Malaria refers to a parasitic disease that occurs due to the bite of a Plasmodium-infected mosquito. The symptoms of malaria include fever with sweating, headache, chills, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, cough, chest pain, and seizures. In severe stages of malaria, the patient presents with anemia and jaundice. These presenting complaints of malaria are seen between seven days and one month after getting infected by the parasite. The complications of malaria, if left untreated, include organ failure, coma (brain damage), and death. The treatment plan to deal with malaria involves prescribing antimalarial drugs like artemisinin, doxycycline, atovaquone, chloroquine, quinine, mefloquine, and primaquine. There are chances for the malarial infection to recur years later after the recovery. To prevent malaria, the preventive measures to be taken include draping mosquito netting over the beds, putting screens on windows and doors, and applying mosquito repellents to the exposed skin.
