Fever :
A person is said to have a fever when their body temperature is more than the normal average temperature. The normal average temperature of the body is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit and 37 degrees Celsius, and if the temperature is greater than this, then the person is considered to have a fever. In a few conditions, fever is accompanied by other presenting complaints such as shivering, shaking, chills, on-and-off constant sweating, headaches, fatigue, body aches, faster heartbeats, and hot skin or flushed complexion. In babies and children, Fever in children and babies is seen along with other complaints like high- pitched crying, fussiness, earache, lack of appetite, paleness or flushness, decreased urination, and excessive thirst. Fever occurs due to various factors like viral infections, bacterial infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, autoimmune disorders, vaccinations, cancer, and reaction to certain medications. To manage fever, the treatment plan involves prescribing over-the-counter medications like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS).
